Pattern design

My theme is symmetry. The things I'm having in it are snowflakes, butterflies, flowers, vases, and starfish. I want my pattern to be symmetrical to match my theme.

Art critique

1) the dark lines going through the page was a creative way to move the viewers attention through the art work.
2) the three areas of emphasis are the bottom right, the top right, and the left side of the art work. They are emphasised by having dark areas around.

Shading work

My shading is creative because I have white shapes in the black areas. I also used the shades to create stripes in three different areas. My three emphasized areas are the fork, the letter "L" and the loop in the beads. The fork stands out because there is a thick black outline around it and light grey go contrast. The "L" stands out because it's white surrounded by a black area. The loop in the bead stands out because all around it is solid black so it stands out really well.

Harmonious lines drawing

I emphasized the ying-yang, the leaf, and the L by making the outlines darker. That way they really would stand out to the viewer. To fill the page I made different types of curved lines all going towards by center shape (ying-yang). Movement is showed in my background by having the lines flowing towards the center. That gave the effect that it was all moving towards the center.
